With Bike Bath fast approaching on 30th June 2019, Velo Club Walcot has announced a series of rides on Sundays during April and May to build up the mileage in readiness for the big day.

If you’re relatively inexperienced at riding a bike, haven’t shared the road with literally hundreds of other cyclists before or are just plain not very fit, the organisers of Bike Bath and Velo Club Walcot are here for you.
During April and May, the club will be leading special groups as an extension of its regular Sunday rides at 9am from Orange Grove in Bath to help, encourage and generally build up your fitness for the big day at the end of June. We’ll start with 15 miles on the first week and over three subsequent Sundays will increase the distance so that you’ll be ready and raring to go.

Crikey! The 80-mile route is going up Cheddar Gorge but have no fears, we’ll get you there…

Bike Bath April May Training Rides 2019 with Velo Club Walcot
All rides start at 9am on Sundays starting from outside Brown’s Brasserie on Orange Grove, Bath BA1 1LP
Ride 1 Sunday 7th April – 15 miles
Ride 2 Sunday 21st April – 25 miles
Ride 3 Sunday 5th May – 35 miles
Ride 4 Sunday 26th May – 45 miles
We’ll ride at a pace that keeps everyone together and we’ll stop for a breather and a nice cup of tea at around the half way point. No-one will be left behind and if anyone is already confident enough to join in with any of our other regular faster and more confident groups going further, you can opt to do that, too. The plan is to get to the end of the series considerably fitter, faster and more confident and, who knows, you could find Bike Bath a doddle, too.

Even on a rubbish day, the lanes around Bath are the best in the UK with a vast range of terrain, cute villages and spectacular views aplenty. This could be the start of something…
